Bugs and Glitches

  • One of the big feedbacks from the Jam, was that his jump vocal was just annoying. So this has been reduced to be sporadic. The thought of a vocal every say five, did not sit well, so there is some randomisation included.
  • The tree hitbox was far too large, resulting in unwanted chopping sessions. This has been limited and should provide a more natural playing experience.
  • The tutorial at the begining is too fast and the voice prompts can overlap. To slow this down will be a pain for players doing this for another time. I think for the next platformer, I will move the tutorial into it's own level, allowing players to skip the tutorial. So no change here. So we learn.
  • The collect snowball prompt is too early, and should be moved to after the river, to be heard clearly. This has been done and feels far better.
  • The machine degredation animation needs to be embelished and there should be some kind of win screen. Some players complained the end was a bit anticlimatic. While I tend to agree, I am still trying to assess what is to be done that justifies the work vs the reward. Will probably not make any further changes for this on Itch.
  • Need prompts for when they have collected too many logs or snowballs. While I agree with this, I think it is not the end of the world.
  • There was a timing glitch, where jumping on the snowman, when a rolling snowball was generated would allow Remi to glitch past the snowman without having to defeat him. This has now been fixed . . . unless of course you manage to do it, and then it is not.

Future of Remi and the big chill

This will be the last release of this on Itch. Future work on this project will be to get the game ready for our own game arcade, mostly adding our own splash screens, and some extra buttons. Some of the unchanged bugs above might also get love and the start screen might need some attention.
