Minor Update and Title change


So the game finished 189th out of 390 something. I was very happy with the outcome, and enjoyed a lot of the comments from fellow game jam entrants. The game is actually very easy, and can be beaten in less than 2 minutes, with as little as 13 clicks. To win the game, you need to be calm and patient.

In keeping with the back story, you have just arrived at a run down missile facility, naturally you are going to have to explore and mistakes will be made. By design I wanted to build tension and let a bit of panic set in. So there is little direction, however some of the entrants felt that there was just too little direction. So I have added two new features to assist with that.

Change Log

  • Visible generator feedback
    Sound plays an important part of the game. The dripping tap getting faster through the game, the constant audible messages, all designed to unsettle the player. Part of that was the audible generator feedback. The generator speed increases as the load increases. I had planned to include a visible feedback, but ran out of time. Have now included this to provide better feedback of a pending generator overload.
  • Rocket Launch Switch
    I was a bit puzzled but people not finding the launch switch. It was the only swtich that did nothing during the game, but people claimed not to have found it. Perhaps they thought they had finished but had really not. So I have added some visible feedback, which should indicate where the switch is, and when it is ready to be activated.
  • Bugfix: Door opening
    When working on the above for the rocket switch, I realised you could launch the rocket before the door was fully open. This has now been fixed.
  • Title change
    I was never happy with the game title, but under the pressure of the Jam I needed to come up with something, hence "Countdown". Felt it was a bit boring and so wanted to add a little more. Hence the name change to "Countdown - 5 minutes to impact"
